High(Low)Lights:
(See Bulletins for detail)
Albury
Two thieves managed to break in to a Mercedes Vito
van parked in Forrest Place on Tuesday, 23 February. But
they were ‘disturbed’ as they tried to get away with some power
tools… so they dropped them, got back into the van and drove it
away.
One of these villains was described as “looking
like a workman” with his yellow sleeveless fluorescent jacket and
dark trousers. He was 30-35 years old with a stocky build, about
6ft tall, and had very black shoulder length hair. The other was
30-40 years old with a slight build, and was wearing a blue/black
bobble hat and, possibly, a lumberjack-style shirt. Both were
white men.
Peaslake
In Pursers Lane, a thief smashed a
ground floor room window overnight on Friday, 26 February, and
climbed inside. Sometime later, he climbed out carrying a digital
camera and a jewellery box.
Shere
After smashing a small glass pane, it was easy for
the thief to reach in and unlock the door of a house – in Hook
Lane – using the key that had been left in the lock! So it
was, on Monday, 22 February, that he got away with a man’s wallet.
Shere
A Ford Focus and a Honda
Accord were keyed in Shere Lane on Sunday, 17 January.
Albury
Snow and cold weather don’t stop people visiting
Newlands Corner, but they don’t stop thieves either. On Sunday,
27 December, a thief got into a locked Audi A4 and got out with a
lady’s handbag containing cash, her house keys, another set of car
keys a UK driving licence, and a camera.
There was also a break in at on Monday, 4 January at
the Newlands Corner wildlife garden visitor centre: nothing
much was stolen, but the villain did a considerable amount of damage
in the process.
Albury
A Ford Escort RS Cosworth was stolen from the car park
at Newlands Corner on Sunday, 6 December.
Shere
On Monday, 30 November, the thief who broke in to the
shed beside a house in Rectory Lane found six mountain bikes
inside... but took only one, an adult’s mountain bike.
Albury
Newlands Corner is a lovely spot, but if you go
there for a walk, don’t leave valuables in your car, as did the driver
of a Citroen Zara on Thursday, 26 November. When she returned, her
passenger side front window was smashed and her handbag gone for a
walk of its own.
Gomshall
A man had his wallet stolen
while dining in a restaurant in Queen Street on Wednesday, 4
November. It was later found outside a supermarket in Godalming.
Shere
A burglar found three bikes
after breaking in to the shed behind a house in Willow Walk on
Sunday, 8 November, and rode away on one of them.
Easy pickings for an
opportunistic thief, who simply opened the unlocked door of a Mercedes
parked in Rectory Lane on Saturday, 7 November, and lifted the
satnav unit from its holder.
Peaslake
A bag was stolen from a car in
Rad Lane on Sunday, 8 November.
