Community Council minutes Jan 13

Peaslake Community Council 2013

Our first meeting this new year took place on the 7th January  in the Memorial Hall, and was well attended despite the  weather.

The Village Christmas Tree donated kindly by the Hurtwood was placed in the Village by David Colebrook and friends who were “drenched” but a sudden burst of rain as they were erecting the tree to start the festive period. This cooling experience did not dull their enthusiasm to finish the task.

Once again a thank you to Digby & Elspeth Hulme for supplying the power for the lights.

The Christmas evening was a great success thanks to Bobby Knott and his Village Acts which delighted the Audience until late evening. This was Bobby’s tenth year hosting the show an achievement on its own.

Many compliments were noted about the high standard of the acts especially by some of the younger participants and the Peaslake Players.

Our thanks are extended to the Villages Group for providing refreshments, the W.I. for the mince pies, and Aaron for the Christmas cake. Not forgetting the crew back stage,

and the Trustees of the Memorial Hall for the use and laying out the hall.

Surrey Highways have informed us that work will be starting with road closures, on Lawbrook Lane, (road surface)   D222 Peaslake Lane, (drainage)  D227 Queen Street Gomshall (major highway Maintaince).  We have not heard if this will affect the Bus routes or times.

Due to the flooding in parts of the Village over Christmas a request has been made to Shere PC to replace the sand bags used at this time.

Concern was also raised over the condition of the foots paths and the overgrown vegetation which needs to be attended to.

The logging operations in the walking Bottom Car Park and the loss of parking space is causing concern because of extra vehicles now parking in the Village.

Please do not forget to sign the online survey to assist Peaslake School with its free School status only two questions to tick, The key single question we require you to answer is:

Do you agree that the Governors of Peaslake Free School should sign the Grant Funding Agreement with the Secretary of State to establish Peaslake as a Free School from September 2013?

May we take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy and healthy 2013 and to remind you our next meeting will be on Monday 4th February 2012 in the Memorial Hall.
