PEASLAKE COMMUNITY COUNCIL
(Our very own 'Vicar of Dibley' meeting)
The last meeting was held on Monday 7th July. Discussions included
the following:
Accounts of the Peaslake Village Community Fund were presented
following the credit of a recent donation. In future accounts will be
formally presented on a 6 monthly basis in line with reporting by the
trustees on 31st March and 31st October each year.
Organisation of the Peaslake Village Fayre was reported as 'coming
along nicely', though there is a requirement for someone to help
coordinate the car parking. If you are able to help then please contact
Christine Harrison (01306 730640, or fayre@peaslake.org).
A relatively recent newcomer to the village reported concern
regarding the speed of traffic entering the village along Pursers Lane.
Suggestions included moving the 30mph signs to include the newly built
Pursers Lee housing, and the installation of a solar powered flashing
speed indicator sign (a recent implementation in Wonersh has transformed
the feel of the village there). Both suggestions will be put to the
Parish Council. Meanwhile we will ask the Community Speed Watch
coordinator to pursue permission for monitoring traffic on Pursers Lane.
The Community Speed Watch would be far more effective with a more
frequent presence; if you are able to help then do please put your name
forward for training (csw@peaslake.org).
There is still no eta for the replacement of the two Peaslake
boundary signs stolen in September 2007, though Surrey Hills have agreed
to replace them with wooden ones.
Overgrown hedgerows were again discussed though the council are
unable to trim those until the Autumn due to conservation concerns.
Surrey County Council have been informed that pot holes in the
village had not been filled in as planned prior to the recent surface
dressing.
The next meeting will be on Monday 1st September at 20:15 in the Old
School Room. Village organisations will be receiving an invition to
represent their groups at the Peaslake Community Council, to which
anyone is welcome to attend. Please do come along - No, no, no, no, no,
Yes!
