Peaslake Cemetery Fence Appeal
The Parochial Church Council has decided to install oak pallisade fencing. Sufficient funds have been raised to cover the cost. We await news of an installation date.
A huge thank you to the residents of Peaslake who raised the bulk of the funds for the replacement fence.
Peaslake Farm and Flooding
News update on a development on Peaslake Farmyard
English Rural Housing intend to submit a planning application to build 10 affordable homes on the site. The application will require statutory consultation with the local authority Flood Risk Team.
Shere Parish Council have published an update on their website. Click here
Flood Resilience Site Meeting with SCC.
Surrey County Council Flood and Resilience Team visited Peaslake on 3 April for a site visit. The visit covered Peaslake Farm, the natural drainage system (stream) that runs down Ewhurst Road, under the Village Centre and through Peaslake Lane properties; and the walking Bottom drainage channel behind Pond Lane Car park.
They made recommendations for improving flood mitigation.
Informally they questioned any housing development on Peaslake Farmyard because of the topography of the site.
They noted how well residents maintained the drainage channel running through gardens in Peaslake Lane.
A copy of the meeting report is here.
POND LANE CAR PARK
Shere Parish Council have approved resurfacing of Pond Lane Car Park with a new permeable surface. It is a big project and a welcome investment in Peaslake. Resurfacing will mean an end to potholes while improving permeability.
Action to start work is delayed by a requirement to seek planning approval. An application has been submitted. Deadline for comments is 16 June 2026.
PEASLAKE COMMUNITY GARDEN UPDATE
All the major groundwork, fencing and gating has now been completed courtesy of the grant from SPC. We are still waiting on our raised beds to be completed and we will be organising a working party to complete (essential!) rabbit fencing. We hope to be able to open properly to members later this summer but in the mean time for those who are interested, we would like help with tree watering & strimming as well as any donations of surplus tools. Anyone who can offer help in any of those ways is encouraged to contact Shiona Bacon at Shiona.bacon@me.com or 07966 718478
